HOME-MADE PINK ORANGE DONUTS RECIPE
This post is written to show you how to make soft home-made pink orange donuts.
I feels like this is the perfect moment to share my little adventure of making a homemade colorful donut with you.
Honestly, I didnโt expect much, I just thought it would be a fun experiment to carry out.ย
I grew up watching and helping my mommake lots of pastries for her customers, so i have tried my hand one treat or the other.
The moment I started mixing the dough, I could tell it was different from anything I had made before.
It looked soft and a little sticky, and handling it carefully showed me that I was really working.
When I added the colors, it actually made me smile. The pink looked kind of warm and inviting, while the orange gave the mixture this bright color.
Frying them was tricky, because the oil canโt be too hot, or the donuts wonโt puff up right.
So i stood there and watched each one rise slowly, turning golden, and saw how much every small step gave what was expected.
Even glazing them takes timing, because you have to get it right, or it just slides off, which we do not want.
Well, i took a bite of the pink one first, (because why not). It was soft, and lightly sweet. The orange one had a fresh, citrus flavor that made me grab another bite immediately.
ย I loved the fact that I actually made them myself, i starred at my handwork, and notice the little imperfections, which I have improved on overtime.ย
By the time I finished frying and served my little baby, and she beautifully giggled, I wasnโt just full, I felt proud and excited.
Now I am writing this, I am actually thinking about making them again soon.ย
Why Homemade Donuts?

When you make donuts at home, you get to customize them just the way you like, and you get to eat them right after they are out, not hours later from aย bakery store.
Also, you also know exactly whatโs going into the pan, like you can add just the right amount of sugar or flavor, and leave out anything you donโt want.
And the toppings, you can try different glazes and toppins just the way you like. I usually stick to simple ones, but sometimes I mix in sprinkles or a little citrus zest, depending on my mood.
And honestly, itโs just fun to make them. Rolling the dough, watching them rise, and frying them until theyโre golden, just makes the whole process worth it.
Ingredients:

3 egg yolks โ These make your donuts rich and soft. Don’t include the whites here, we just want the creamy part.
1โ2 cups oil (for frying) โ Go for something plain like vegetable oil.ย
2 ยฝ cups self-rising flour โ This flour already has baking powder in it, so the donuts rise without extra effort.
1 cup milk โ This keeps the dough soft and gives a nice, gentleย flavor.
1 tbsp olive oil โ Just a little helps the dough stay smooth and not too dry.
ยฝ cup caster sugar โ This is finer than regular sugar, so it mixes in without leaving grainy bits.
1 tbsp dry yeast โ This is what makes the donuts puff up and get soft.
ยฝ cup butter โ Melts into the dough and makes every bite taste better.
Icing:

1 cup icing sugar โ Go for the soft, powdery sugar. It is perfect for a smooth coating.
2 tbsp water โ Just enough to make the icing runny.
Orange, pink and white sprinkles (any brand )
How to Prepare
1 Mix the dry ingredientsย

In a medium bowl, combine flour, yeast, and sugar. Stir with a spatula until dry mixture is evenly mixed.
2. Add the eggsย

Crack in the eggs and mix well until the dough starts to come together.
3. Add milk and butterย

Pour in the milk and melted butter. Keep mixing until everything is combined and you can form the dough into a smooth, round ball.
4. Let it riseย

Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and place it in a warm spot. Let it rise for about 2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
5.ย ย Roll and cut the donuts

Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently to release air. Transfer it onto a floured surface, roll it out to about ยฝ inch thickness, and use a donut cutter (or two round cutters, one big and one small) to shape your donuts.
6. Second rise

Place the cut donuts on a lined baking tray, cover lightly with a towel, and let them rise again for about 30 minutes. This makes them extra soft.
7. Bake the donuts

Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Bake the donuts for 10โ12 minutes, or until they are light golden on top. (If you prefer fried donuts, heat oil in a deep pan and fry each side until golden brown.
8. Prepare the icing

In two separate bowls, make simple icings by mixing powdered sugar with a splash of milk and vanilla.
Add pink food coloring to one bowl and orange food coloring to the other. Adjust consistency by adding more sugar if too runny or more milk if too thick.
9. Dip and decorate

Once the donuts have cooled slightly, dip half into the pink icing and the other half into the orange icing. Place them on a wire rack and let the glaze set.
10. Add finishing touches

You can keep them simple with just icing or add sprinkles for a fun, colorful look.
Variations:

- Baked or Fried โ If you want something lighter and less greasy, go for baked donuts. But if youโre after that crispy outside with a soft middle, frying is the way to go.
- Fruity Flavors โ Pink donuts often get their color and taste from strawberries or raspberries. For orange ones, a bit of orange zest or juice does the magic.
- Glazed or Filled โ Keep it simple with a sugar dusting or glaze, or go all out by filling them with cream, jam, or even melted chocolate.
Tips for Perfect Donuts

- Watch the temperature โ If youโre making yeast donuts, keep your liquid warm (not hot) so the yeast wakes up without getting killed off.
- Get even shapes โ A donut cutter works great, but a piping bag can also help keep them looking neat and uniform.
- Build your color slowly โ Add a little pink or orange food coloring at a time until you arrive at the color shade you like.
- Glaze while warm โ Coat them while theyโre still warm so the glaze sticks beautifully instead of sliding off.
Serving Ideas

- Breakfast treat โ These donuts go perfectly with a cup of coffee or tea in the morning.
- Party snack โ Kids and adults will both love them at any gathering

FAQs for Home-made Pink & Orange Donuts Recipe
Do I need special equipment to make these donuts?
Not really. A donut pan can be used if you want the perfect round shape, but you can also use a muffin tin.
Can I use regular food coloring for the pink and orange?
Yes. Any liquid or gel food coloring works. Use any that you have in the kitchen drawer.
How do I get the icing to look smooth?
Dip the donuts into the icing while itโs still warm and a bit runny. Let the excess drip off, then place them on a rack to set. Thatโs how you get that nice glossy finish.
Can I make them ahead of time?
Yes, but they taste best the same day. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container, and when you are ready, putย them in the microwave for a few seconds to bring them back to life.
How do I make the colors pop even more?
Use white icing as your base before adding the coloring. This makes the pink and orange come out brighter.
